Matterform announces it’s first product; The world's first affordable home 3D Scanner.

The Photon, a brand new desktop product that lets you turn a real object into a 3D digital file.

Toronto, Ont ~ (March 27, 2013) ~ The Photon, a revolutionary desktop companion, turns real, physical objects, into 3-Dimensional files. Set to launch first on Indiegogo, The Photon aims at revolutionizing the world of home 3D printing, animation, design, and archiving.
"We originally set out to make a 3D scanner, just for ourselves. After we started showing it off to people and getting a really great response, we thought we would try putting it out in the world."

The Photon works by shooting lasers at an object as it rotates 360 degrees. By taking pictures along the way, the software is able to generate a 3-Dimensional model that can be used with any 3d program. Once the file is created, it can be reproduced on a 3D printer, to create copies of the original object. Or modify the file and use it in animations, 3D designs, or just save the file to have a digital archive.

"The Photon was originally made to compliment our 3D printers, but as we got further along, so many other amazing uses kept popping up."The Photon package, includes a pre-assembled, tested, and calibrated 3D Scanner, power cable, USB cable, and a link to download their proprietary scanning software (Compatible with Mac or PC).

The Photon is available for purchase through Indiegogo for $399, with the first 100 scanners at a discount price of $349.

Matterform, the company that designed the Photon, is owned and operated by Drew Cox, and Adam Brandejs; Two mad scientists from Toronto.
